Seeking help demonstrates a level of strength and desire to change things in hopes to promote a healthier and more functional lifestyle. As we hit many rough spots in life, instead of stopping for a second, we push through our struggles in attempts to move forward. Along our journey we find that we get stuck. However, in order to move forward, we need to obtain something that is missing from our lives and our relationships. Pursuing therapy can provide you with a major push that you may need along your journey.
Taking the step towards therapy not only offers healing but it also offers a new beginning. We all deserve having a safe space to work through life’s issues. There are points in our lives in which we need mental and emotional support. Most importantly, we need to work just as hard for ourselves as we do for others.
I have experience working with clients of many ethnic backgrounds with a variety of different concerns. My clinical experience has involved providing psychotherapeutic services to address a spectrum of mental health challenges, specializing in trauma, depression, anxiety and mood disorders.
I was born and raised in Baltimore City, a proud mom of one amazing and bossy son. I have earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Mary Baldwin University in Virginia and from there pursued my studies in mental health and counseling. I went on to pursue my Master of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Maryland College Park. I am a Licensed Graduate Marriage and Family Therapist (LGMFT) under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Knarr. I have experience in crisis therapy, in which I’ve worked at Baltimore’s City’s Juvenile Detention Center in addition to working with individuals, couples and families through a number of issues. Some of these issues include marital conflict, interpersonal conflict, individual trauma, communication issues, family violence, substance abuse, infidelity, parenting/coparenting, sex/sexuality and intercultural relationships.
