Tyra Berger, MSMFT, LGPC
As a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) Associate at Dr. Stephanie’s Relationship Repair Shop, Tyra works with individuals, couples, and families struggling with personal and relationship issues. She is supportive, encouraging and compassionate and she tries to create a safe and comfortable environment where you can work together to identify the issues and reasonable solutions.
Tyra has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Psychology from University of Maryland University College and a Master of Science Degree in Marriage & Family Counseling Therapy from Capella University. She is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor and also a National Certified Counselor (NCC). As an MSMFT and Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) she is practicing under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Weiland-Knarr, a well-respected licensed family therapist known for her Relationship Repair Shop.
Tyra is also certified in the Prepare-Enrich Pre-Marital Assessment, which is the leading couple and marriage inventory nationally and internationally. This assessment is a thorough tool that helps couples explore and strengthen their relationships.
Some of her areas of special interest are helping couples in premarital counseling, couple and marriage related issues, infidelity, and gay and lesbian relationships. She also helps those and has experience with those struggling with depression and anxiety, families coping with divorce, infidelity, domestic abuse and individuals with self-esteem issues. To address many of these issues Tyra utilizes the Solution-Focused Therapy Model, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Gottman Therapy Method, Prepare-Enrich, and Trauma Focused Therapy.
Tyra is an in-network provider with Care First Blue Cross Blue Shield and for self-pay individual clients sessions are $100 for 60 minutes and $150 for 90 minutes. For self-pay couples sessions are $125 for 60 minutes and $175 for 90 minutes. Tyra sees clients at the Laurel location on Wednesdays 10-8 and Saturdays 9-3. She also sees clients at Tyra’s Relationship Repair Shop in Upper Marlboro on Tuesdays from 12-8, Thursdays 10-8, and Fridays 10-4. Other appointment times may be available upon request.
