Q. How many sessions will it take to reach my therapy goals?
A. It depends upon your therapy goals and the quality of your current relationship, however on average clients will attend 5-8 visits to complete their goals.
Q. How often do most clients attend therapy?
A. Most clients attend therapy on a weekly or bi-weekly basis for several sessions until they have reached their goals. After that, they often schedule one or two follow-up sessions a month or six weeks later to make sure they are maintaining the changes they have made. Many clients will then call and make an appointment on an as-needed basis after that if any other problems arise they would like help with.
Q. What happens at a first appointment?
A. During the first appointment, your therapist will get a history about you and your relationships. Next, you will briefly review your strengths and your relationship strengths before discussing the problem you are seeking help for. Most of the session will include time for you to describe and overview the current problems you are seeking help for and what your therapy goals are. Finally, you will agree with your therapist on therapy goals and approximately the number of sessions it will take to achieve those goals.
Q. Where is your office located?
A. Our office is conveniently located in Laurel, MD, off of Interstate 95 between D.C. and Baltimore in Howard County.
Q. How do I pay for my session?
A. The accepted forms of payment are to bring either cash or a check to your appointment (preferred) or you can pre-pay online with a credit or debit card prior to coming to the appointment. The pre-pay option is located on the right sidebar of the website.
Q. Will my insurance cover my counseling sessions?
A. Many insurance plans do not cover marriage or relationship counseling. You can call you insurance member services to find out your benefits. If you have out of network benefits, then you can ask your therapist to give you a receipt at each session for you to send to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Q. How can I make or re-schedule an appointment?
A. Please feel free to use the convenient on-line appointment scheduler (preferred). You may also call the office to schedule your appointment (301-490-1011).
Q. What if I have to cancel my session?
A. If you need to cancel your appointment please call the office (301-490-1011) 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time or send an e-mail by replying to your appointment confirmation e-mail. There is a late cancellation fee of $30.00 if notification is not received within 24 hours or you will be charged the full fee for the appointment if you give no notification.
